Following the success of his first American show last Fall, the French modernist sculptor Etienne Viard returns to AvantGarden on October 1st, 2005 with an exhibition of his latest work.
Born in 1954, Etienne Viard lives and works in Venasque in the Luberon region of France. He has shown extensively throughout France, Belgium and Luxembourg. For the last twenty years he has worked primarily in bended and cut metal.
Luxembourg art critic Marie-Anne Lorge comments " Steeped in a universe that is both playful and luscious, organic and ethereal, Viard, the architect of precarious balance, thwarts the power of steel, bends its energy to gain in flexibility--just enough, to make us believe it's all wrought by wind and patience."
The exhibition will include several new large-scale outdoor sculptures, as well as many smaller works designed for interior spaces.
